Wedding details

Incase I haven't mentioned it DP and I are getting married in May next year on our 10yr anniversary. It's been a long time coming!

I have so far confirmed my dress, decided on my flowers, decided on my bridesmaids and their dresses, now to see if I get them made or buy them, decided on the reception venue, hairdresser, and I think makeup (I don't wear makeup much so should be interesting!

My dress is going to have a koru pattern on it, which SIL bestfriend is going to hand paint (She's one of them arty farty types that can do that sort of thing)
Flowers are going to be different and flax, I don't want the traditional round rose bouquet I don't like it not me. (No offense)
Bridesmaids are bro3's gf (mentioned here more often then not as SIL) and a very old good friend of mine.
Dresses are going to be convertible they aren't having flowers they are getting a flax kete.
Reception is at a local bar the owner used to work at DP's work as a DJ
Hairdresser is DP's sister
and make up is SIL friend.

I am wearing as flat shoes as I can get away with lol I'm not a heel person, I get sore feet and as I don't wear shoes very often seeing as I am at home with DD more often then not and don't actually need them.

Oh DP is going to be wearing a waistcoat. I need to find the material for it as I want it to have a Polynesian pattern to go with our theme. Our invites are going to be addressed from DD and she is walking me down the aisle :)

That's all I can think of for now... Loving it, 6mths to go gosh gotta get my act into gear!

So I just

I just went and checked on DD she's still blissfully asleep! What a miracle that never happens.

DD used to be a cat napper when she was little only sleeping on me. This proved a hindrance to house work not that I minded that too much ;) So I got tough on her she cried she slept for 1.5hrs for her first nap ever! This was when pickle was 5mths old. Lately she has been doing a 2hr sleep in the middle of the day which is great she kind of just dropped a sleep somewhere and has been sleeping really heavily for 2hrs. Well that was until this week. Mon, not so great she went to sleep after some crying throwing her blankie out of the cot and me ending up picking her up cuddling her taking the laptop to the bedroom and lying in our bed (she's still in our room as we don't have a choice in that matter) telling her to lye down and go to sleep she eventually drifted off. Mon night fast asleep in 10mins of being put down. Tues crying, her dad was home made a comment so I grabbed her and cuddled her on the couch she fell asleep for about half an hour I went to put her in her cot, she woke up with a start and screamed! Her well meaning dad took her from me but didn't do it too gently so she was beside herself wanting me. Ok I'm thinking I'll cuddle you some more your dads going to work so it should be sweet you'll go to sleep easy. No such luck try 5pm after screaming, cuddling, rocking, 2cups of water, 2bottles of milk and me finally giving in and saying here take your dummy asleep for 2.5hrs. I kept her up for an hour and put her down. She didn't complain. Dad was watching boring cricket so I went to our room... DD's still awake! Bugger. Oh maybe she'll eventually go to sleep like she normally does. Nope! I ended up cuddling her to sleep at about 10pm. 11pm she woke up with a start and a cry just as her dad got home and ended up more cuddling, her dad trying to comfort her ie lean on me and her upsetting her so she clung to me, me putting her in her bed and giving up and giving her her dummy again.

Wed was fine as we go to My Gym in the morning and she loves it and it also tires her out! Today as I said we went to Chipmunks she was tired playing rubbing her eyes then 5mins later I'm fine mum! Finally dragged her out and put her to bed when we got home. She's still there now cuddling her blankie. Only problem is its 5pm her bedtime is at 7.30pm she hasn't had dinner, but thats ok, I still need to go shopping! But I forgot to raise the drop side on the cot. Hopefully she doesn't try to climb over it although now I've said it she probably will. I'm waiting for the shout.

I need to do this more often

I truly do I think I just forget about it or perhaps think I don't have anything to say. Although my life is far from boring.

It's funny as DD still has generally speaking a 2hr sleep a day ... some days not so much! But generally she does. Why don't I blog then when I am twiddling my thumbs at times, I couldn't tell you.

Today she's been asleep going on 3hrs, AMAZING well perhaps she's not asleep perhaps she's actually awake but she isn't shouting out to me so I am leaving her to it.

Have I ever mentioned my family is crazy? Well they are. Dad asked brother number2 (by the way there are three brothers so I will have them be bro 1-3 in age order starting at the oldest) anyway so he has asked brother number 2 to burn a CD from a vinyl (my gosh a record you say they still exist) my brother has done so, he thought that since there was only maybe 2songs on it he didn't want to waste the disc and thought he would add more songs on to it. Bro2 made the mistake of playing said songs to dad. Dad is... I don't know how to name it, but conspiratorial to say the least, his life is the CI channel which is on all day (and on when my poor baby sits in front of the coffee table eating lunch, not that I want her to sit in front of the TV, but that is where her chair is and its the right height). I digress, so dad has told bro2 that he can't send it because of Australian customs (the disc was being burned to send to my uncle in Australia from here in NZ) because it has burnt music on it. Bro2 is a bit sensitive and kind of just goes with what people think perhaps a bit naive not sure. Bro1 and I assured bro2 that the disc would not be stopped at customs, that he would not get in trouble. Dad insisted otherwise. I think dad watches too much CI and border patrol personally, oh and those road wars programmes about the police, yep far too many of them, records them all and watches them later never mind that they are repeated every month or so he acts like he's never seen them before. So we explain to bro2 that all they are likely to do is look at what the description is (CD) put it through an xray and see yes in fact it is a CD run a sniffer dog if that over it and oh what do you know it'll go on its merry way. They aren't going to open it up put it on and say oooh this song is illegally burnt we are going to arrest the sender and receiver. They don't know it could have been legitimately purchased from itunes or something! I do really wonder what goes through dads head.

So today dad borrowed my car and went to post said CD. Go figure.

Oh but I should mention before he went to post the CD he was sitting there with a box in his hand and a box cutter/craft knife thing and is going to cut a rather large box down to fit a single CD into it to post it to his brother. I mentioned to him that they actually have boxes at the post office now that are the size of CD's. (I'm sure they've been around for almost the entire length of time that there have been CD's) So he posted it and came back saying I was right and how easy it was... Yep that was the idea dad.

Ok so DD is still asleep its been almost 3hrs I think I may have heard her talk a little about 45mins ago but she still hasn't shouted. Perhaps I should go see if she's awake. She did have a rather busy morning as playgroup went to Chipmunks this morning and we were there for 3hrs. If your unsure of what Chipmunks is its a big indoor play place with slides, and games, ball cannons, toys you name it pretty much kids love it!

Ok perhaps I should go see if she is infact asleep she had lunch so I don't need to worry about that but I do have some shopping to do. Good thing its late night shopping tonight. There's a sale on as well that would be good to go to.

Guy Fawkes

So on Friday night it was Guy Fawkes. DD was only going on 4mths last year so it didn't really affect her in anyway. This year DD was 15mths and I thought I would keep her up to watch them. Bro number 1s partner asked if she would be ok as she knows other kids that aren't. I said I would see, just take her outside and if she acts up then bring her in to watch from inside. If she still was unsettled I'd just put her to bed.

One of her aunts had her and we spent the first half our going woooowwww wowww everytime a firework was let off. She got a bit of a fright when there was a crackling, yet bizzarely the loud bangs didn't bother her. I took her off her aunt and sat down with her to watch some more... Well what do you know DD is so her father's daughter and fell asleep watching them (her father can sleep through a digger in the driveway next door). So all in all we had a rather uneventful night with her and I ended up putting her to bed.

It got better though a few of bro#3's friends came round at about 10pm as you do. At this stage we were over the fireworks but they wanted to let some off... Ok thats cool. Only thing is they had just watched Jackass 3d... you know how that goes.

One friend decides its a great idea to put a roman candle in his mouth (yes I know smart cookie not something I condone and glad that the kids were gone or in bed at this stage) Then it gets suggested he puts it in his butt... so he does. Without thinking he turns around and shoots me with the firework, it kinda just bounced off and hits one of the other guys in the mouth.

One of the other guys burns SIL's top. And one of the two of them very skilled like shoots one of down the drive way across the road and it explodes on the corner of the house.

Guy Fawkes/fireworks and Jackass don't mix!

Done and dusted

I am so very happy as I mentioned in my first post I am studying. As its the end of the year it is also exam time. I know a guy who had an exam the first day then had two weeks off between the next one yep two whole weeks! I on the other hand had all three of mine in one week! Happy about that yes I am. So on Tues 2nd November (which also happens to be my birthday, I know happy birthday to me!) I sit my first exam in over 9years.Should mention I also did next to no study as my daughter being the lovely child that she is everytime I picked up a book would come and "help" mummy.

The paper introduction to cross-cultural communication... First half was multiple choice, I looked at most of those questions and thought yeah ok I have an idea on most of this, I looked at the two short answer questions and the first one I was able to answer, the second one I stared at blankly. That's right I had no idea, when I say no idea I mean absolutely not one iota of an idea. The third section was an essay that I had a little bit of insight from DP's experiences not a problem. Do I think I passed, not a clue. Would be a shame not to pass as I have gotten a b+ and an a- for the two essays from this paper.

The second exam, media studies, two questions that I looked at and had no idea. Oh and my pen ran out... yep not too successful

Last exam took place on the Friday and it was Management Information Services. Six short answer questions the exam was meant to take 3 hours, I left in just under 1.5hrs. I wasn't the first to leave!

So come 11am on Friday I was done and dusted for my first semester at Uni and my first time studying in over 9years! Happy its over YES! How did I go? Well the results will be about 3weeks if not a month away and then I will know.  Fingers crossed and with a bit of luck I passed with c passes at least. We'll see...
